  • Joined our faculty in 2016 (1988 graduate of LCS) 
  • Principal, Teaches Math and Speech
  • Bachelor’s degree in Missions from Atlantic Baptist Bible College; continued education classes with a focus in administration, education, and course instruction; over 20 years experience in teaching and 14 years as principal  
  • Married to Melissa and has 4 school age children that attend LCS
  • Church ministry: Adult Sunday school, Bus Ministry, and music
  • Enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and sports

Mrs. Melissa Tignor – 4 Yr. Kindergarten
  • Joined our faculty in 2016
  • Teaches K4
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a bachelor’s degree in Missions from Atlantic Baptist Bible College
  • Married to John and has 4 school age children that attend LCS
  • Church ministry: music and nursery
  • Loves to do puzzles, word searches, and spend time with her family

Mrs. Chrissy Pregony – Kindergarten
  • Joined our faculty in 2012
  • Teaches K5
  • Attended Bob Jones University taking classes in Child Development and has an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Three Rivers Community College
  • Married to A.J. and loves to spend time with her niece and nephew
  • Church ministry: K4 Sunday school teacher, 1st-3rd grade Jr. Church teacher, nursery
  • Enjoys being with her family, the beach, gardening, antiquing, and DIY projects

Mrs. Kathy Young – 1st Grade
  • Joined our faculty in 2012
  • Teaches first grade
  • Attended Arlington Baptist College and has over 30 years experience in Christian school ministry
  • Married to Gordon and has 5 adult children, 4 sons-in-law, and 7 grandchildren
  • Church ministry: Young Adult Sunday school helper, music, nursery
  • Loves traveling from coast to coast to see her kids and grandkids, spending time with her husband’s Sunday school class, and speaking about what God has done for her in various ladies’ ministries

Mrs. Amy Durrette – 2nd Grade
  • Joined our faculty in 2007
  • Teaches second grade
  • Master’s degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from VCU
  • Married to David and has 3 children which have all attended LCS since K4
  • Church ministry: K4 Sunday school helper, Toddler Jr. Church worker, nursery
  • Loves spending time with her family, the beach, and reading

Mrs. Karen Dorsey – 3rd Grade
  • Joined our faculty in 2018
  • Teaches third grade
  • Associate’s degree in Church Business/Secretarial Science with continued classes and workshops in education and over 12 years teaching experience
  • Married to John with 3 adult children, 1 son-in-law, and 1 child attending LCS
  • Church ministry: AWANAS and music
  • Enjoys time with family, swimming, biking, and reading a good book

Mrs. Sandy Kelly – 5th Grade
  • Joined our faculty in 1982

  • Married to Dave and has 2 adult children that graduated from LCS
  • Church ministry: Second grade Sunday school teacher, nursery

Mrs. Marty Naylor – 6th Grade
  • Joined our faculty in 2012
  • Teaches sixth grade
  • Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education with a concentration in Elementary Education from Bethany Bible College in Dothan, Al.
  • Married to Joseph and has 2 grown daughters, 2 sons-in-law, and 9 grandchildren
  • Church ministry: AWANA, music
  • Enjoys playing with her beautiful grandbabies and traveling with her husband who represents VAIB and does pulpit supply around the state

Mrs. Nancy Crain – Middle/High School
  • Joined our faculty in 1976
  • Teaches English, Spanish, and Economics
  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from MSU, an associate’s degree in Christian Education from Baptist Bible College, and a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education from Sacramento Baptist College
  • Married to Kenneth and has 2 sons and 1 daughter that graduated from LCS, and 6 grandchildren
  • Church ministry: music, orchestra, nursery
  • Enjoys time with family, working outside, and going to the beach

Mrs. Beckie Hibbard – Middle/High School
  • Joined our faculty in 1994 (1990 graduate of LCS) 
  • Teaches English, girl’s PE and health, Yearbook Adviser, ODACS coordinator
  • B.A. in English from VCU and a M.S. in Secondary Education from Pensacola Christian College
  • Married to Kevin
  • Church ministry: AWANA, orchestra, and Jr. Church
  • Enjoys visiting national parks with her husband, photography, scrapbooking, and cooking

Mrs. Valerie Kucera – Middle/High School
  • Joined our faculty in 2008
  • Teaches science and Bible
  • A.A.S. in Medical Laboratory Technology from J. Sargeant Reynolds and continued education through Louisiana Baptist University
  • Married to Bob and has one grown daughter who graduated from LCS
  • Church ministry: Second grade Sunday school helper, K4 Jr. Church teacher, music
  • Enjoys fishing with her husband, watching the deer in her backyard, and loves elephants

Mrs. Madeline Sampson – High School
  • Joined our faculty in 2016
  • Teaches Chemistry
  • B.S. in Chemistry from State University of N.Y., M.S. in Chemistry from University of Kentucky, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Rice University
  • Married to Jim and has 3 grown sons, with one currently in college who graduated from LCS
  • Church ministry: AWANA, fourth grade Sunday school helper, Jr. Church, music
  • Enjoys walking outdoors, watching birds, playing board games, and playing with her cat

Mr. Rob Ferguson – High School, Facilities Manager
  • Joined our staff in 2007 and faculty in 2016
  • Teaches U.S. History, Art Appreciation, and is our Facilities’ Manager
  • B.S. in Art History from VCU and is currently working on his master’s degree in education
  • Married to Lori and has 3 children, one married, one in college, and one school age
  • Church ministry: Teen ministry helper, AWANA, Jr. Church teacher
  • Enjoys history, reading, sports, and outdoor activities

Mr. Dan Maul – High School, Facilities
  • Joined our staff in 2005 and faculty in 2016
  • Teaches History, Bible, boys’ PE and Health
  • Pastoral degree from Atlantic Baptist Bible College and a master’s in ministry from Crown College of the Bible
  • Engaged to Sarah
  • Church ministry: 4th-6th grade boys’ Sunday school teacher, AWANA
  • Loves to read, fish, and go to historical reenactments

Mr. James Sumpter – Athletic Director & Boys’ Coach
  • Joined our faculty in 2008
  • Serves as the Athletic Director and Boys’ Sports Coach
  • Crown College 
  • Married to Joy and has 3 children: Ellie, Boston, and Lexington 
  • Church ministry: Youth Pastor, Outreach, Audio/Visual
  • Loves traveling and exploring with his family. Is an avid reader, outdoorsman, and sports fan. (Red Sox, Eagles, Kentucky Wildcats, and Spurs)
