We were extremely excited to have Mr. Tignor return to our school and church ministries as principal in the summer of 2016. He grew up at Landmark and is a graduate of the LCS 1988 class. He holds a bachelors degree from Atlantic Baptist Bible College. He worked in Christian education in Maryland for eighteen years, twelve of those as a principal. He has taught of algebra, history, physics, biology, speech, and Bible. He was also a soccer coach, basketball coach, and an athletic director at his previous school. He has taken many courses for continued education with specific focuses in administration, education, and course instruction. He and his family serve at LBC, and he currently leads our church bus ministry.
Melissa joined the LCS staff in 2016, but attended college in the area and did her student teaching at LCS. She has nineteen years experience teaching. She previously taught 3rd and 4th grade in Maryland. She holds a bachelors degrees in elementary education and missions from Atlantic Baptist Bible College. She is married to the LCS Principal John Tignor. They have four children.
Abby Ball has been part of the LBC ministries since she was a child. She has been a part of LBC for thirty one years. She studied culinary arts at J. Sargent Reynolds and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education / Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University. After several years of homeschooling her two children, she joined the LCS faculty team in 2016. In our church, she currently teaches the toddler/preschool class, helps in the children’s choir, teaches K5 junior church and helps in the nursery.
Chrissy Pregony teaches K-5. She attended Bob Jones University and studied Missions and Child Care Development. She received an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Three Rivers Community College. She has 19 years of experience in working with children. She has been employed by LCS since the fall 2010.
Mrs. Young joined the LCS staff in 2012 and is the first grade teacher. She is married to Rev. Gordon Young, music pastor at LBC. She attended Arlington Baptist College in Texas. She has five grown children and three grandchildren. She has been involved in Christian education for 29 years. She also helps head up the art entries for the ODACS fine arts competition.
Amy Durrette teaches Second Grade at Landmark Christian. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education in 1994. She taught for five years in public school before staying home with her children for a few years. She is beginning her seventh year of teaching Second Grade at LCS. She occasionally helps Mrs Kelly with cheering practices after school as well as help run the gate at soccer and basketball games.
Sandy Kelly teaches Third Grade and has served as cheerleading coach. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Liberty Baptist College in Lynchburg, VA. She has been employed by LCS since January of 1982. She has previously taught 3rd & 4th grade Reading and Math, 6th grade, and 9th Grade Algebra I. She has taught 3rd grade for the past ten years.
Leigh Madlinger is currently the 5th grade teacher at Landmark Christian School. She has previously taught Kindergarten and Fourth Grade. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Christian Education from Louisiana Baptist University, LA. She has been employed by LCS since the fall of 2005.
Mrs. Naylor teaches sixth grade, as well as 4th-6th grade choir. She has previously taught K4-8th grade academics and K4-12th grade choir. She graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education, with concentration in elementary education, from Bethany Bible College in Dothan, AL. She has been employed by Landmark since the fall of 2012. Previously, Mrs. Naylor taught at Mercer Christian Academy in Princeton, WV for 10 years, Jefferson Christian Academy in Ripplemead, VA for 3 years, and Fairfax Baptist Temple Academy for 5 years.Mrs. Naylor joined the LCS staff in 2012.
Nancy Crain teaches seventh and eighth grade English, Spanish I, world history, and United States history. She has previously taught fourth grade, sixth grade, Bible, government, economics, and fifth grade science. She graduated from Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. She also graduated from Baptist Bible College with an associate degree in Christian education. She later received a bachelor’s degree in Christian education from Sacramento Baptist College. She has been a teacher at Landmark Christian School since 1976.
Beckie Hibbard, an LCS alumnus, teaches high school English and Spanish, as well as the girls’ PE & health classes. She is the yearbook adviser, school librarian, and the girls JV volleyball and basketball coach. Beckie has taught Keyboarding and Computer Applications classes and junior high level English in the past. In 1993, she graduated summa cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.A. in English and a Spanish minor, and then earned an M.S. in Secondary Education from Pensacola Christian College in 1995. Except for four years when she was teaching in the English department at Pensacola Christian College, Beckie has been teaching at Landmark Christian School since January 1994.
Valerie Kucera currently teaches science and Bible in the 7-12th grades. She previously worked part-time in the church/school office before joining the teaching staff at LCS in 2010. She has been married to her husband for 31 years and has a daughter who graduated from LCS who is at George Washington University. She has a degree in science from J. Seargent Reynolds, and worked for 20 years at local doctors offices and hospitals. She has specialized in microbiology and providing employee training. She has continued her education through Louisiana Baptist University.
Mrs. Lund is a graduate of LCS, and holds degrees from Pensacola Christian College in Computer Science and Mathematics. She teaches math and computer courses in the 7-12th grade classes. She helps with the cheering team and has a big part of our RenWeb technologies system and our school integration to Windows Office 365.
Mr. Haase joined the LCS staff in 2014. He is a graduate of Pensacola Christian College. He teaches junior high and high-school history and all of the school’s music classes including choirs, bands, music basics, and personal music lessons. He also coaches in the school’s intramural basketball program.
Mrs. Sampson is from upstate New York She holds chemistry degrees from State University N.Y. and University of Kentucky as well as a PhD. in Physical Inorganic Chemistry from Rice University. She has taught chemistry in the high school since 2015. She has taught in other Christian and public schools including Fairmont State University and currently at Randolph-Macon College. Mrs. Sampson has three sons and she ministers with her husband Jim at LBC as well. She serves in kids clubs, Sunday school, kids church and programs, and the choir. Her favorite verse is Philippians 4:6-7
Mrs. Certain is joining the staff full time in 2016 after substituting and being a choir accompanist for 2 years. She has a bachelors degree in education from Crown College and has previously taught 5th grade. She is a mother of six girls. She has taught piano lessons for a number of students and is a church pianist for LBC. She teaches middle school history classes and helps in the music program at LCS.
Rob Ferguson is a graduate of VCU in art history, and is currently working on a masters degree in education. He teaches 9th grade history. He serves as the facilities manager for the school and the church. He is actively involved in the kids programs at Landmark Baptist Church and assists in the LBC teen youth ministry.
Dan teaches middle and high school history, Bible, and P.E. He works with grounds and maintenance and a number of other areas in the school and church ministries. He has a pastoral degree from Atlantic Baptist Bible College, and a Masters in Ministry from Crown College. He helps in a number of ways with the students including working with the preaching students for ODACS competition and coaching in the school’s intramural basketball program. He teaches the 5th-6th grade boys Sunday school class.
